Today is World Read Aloud Day ๐Ÿ“š, established by the nonprofit organization LitWorld to advocate for literacy and commemorate the importance, joy, and power of reading by sharing stories. LitWorld designates the first Wednesday of February each year as World Read Aloud Day.

Reading aloud has many benefits โœ…, as it involves more than simply reading the text aloud. By reading aloud, you can:

๐Ÿ“ Model reading habits for children, helping to establish a lifelong interest in reading

๐Ÿ“ Role-play: interpret the story with tone and emphasis

๐Ÿ“ Incorporate emotions to help children develop empathy (Theory of Mind)

๐Ÿ“ Enhance children's oral language abilities and phonemic awareness

๐Ÿ“ Connect sound, meaning, and writing to enhance language abilities and vocabulary

๐Ÿ“ Use stories as a starting point for conversation, linking existing knowledge to cognitive expansion

Of course, the most important thing is to enjoy reading aloud with your child ๐Ÿ‘ช, and to share the joy of reading! Have you and your child enjoyed reading today?
